1. Agreeing to these terms
You accept these terms when you tick the box on the signup page, before your browser creates your account. "We" means Principle Zero Labs LLC, a Washington limited liability company. Our privacy policy explains what we hold and why, and is part of these terms.
2. The service
Lantern Zero wakes your Zcash wallet on a schedule so it syncs in the background. If you turn on scanning, it also alerts you to payments, and merchants can receive them by webhook. It helps your wallet sync; it is not a record of your funds. Your wallet's own sync is always what counts.
3. Your account is a bearer token
- Whoever holds your token controls your account. Keep it secret, and never send it to anyone, including us.
- We can't recover a lost token, and we can't tell the owner from someone who has copied it.
- If your token leaks, rotate it from your wallet.
4. Eligibility
You must be at least 18. You confirm that you're not a person targeted by US sanctions, and that you're not in, or acting for someone in, a country or region under comprehensive US sanctions.
5. Free and paid service
- Scheduled wake-ups are free. You can create an account without paying.
- Scanning mode is paid. You pay the price shown on the signup page, in shielded ZEC. Your paid period starts when your payment is confirmed. When it ends, scanning stops and your account carries on as a free account.
- Payments are not refundable. Instead, we credit service time. An overpayment, or a payment to an expired invoice, adds time in proportion to the invoice price. An underpayment adds time in proportion too, rather than leaving the invoice unpaid.
- We don't refund in ZEC because a refund needs an address to send it to, and keeping one would link you to your account.
6. Outages
If the service is unavailable to you for 24 hours or more in a row during a paid period, we add the lost time to your paid period, rounded up to whole days. We post outages on the Transparency page, since we have no way to contact you.
7. No guarantee of delivery
Apple and Google may delay or drop pushes, phones limit background work, and a scanning lease lapses if your phone doesn't wake in time. We don't promise that any wake-up or alert arrives, or arrives on time. Individual plans come with no uptime commitment.
8. Alerts are not confirmations
An alert means a payment was seen, not that it is final. Merchants must check confirmations themselves before releasing goods. Nothing in the service is financial, tax or security advice.
9. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- get around rate limits, or overload the service;
- create free accounts in bulk, or to aim wake-ups at devices that aren't yours;
- point push subscriptions or webhooks at systems you don't control;
- try to learn anything about other users;
- use the service for anything unlawful.
10. Suspension and deletion
We may suspend an account that breaks these terms. Because we can't contact you, a suspended account receives an error from the API that says so. You can delete your account from your wallet at any time. A free account that your wallet hasn't used for 90 days is deleted. To keep free signups from being abused, we may ask your browser to do a few seconds of computing work before it creates an account, and we may limit how many free accounts are created overall.
11. Open-source software
The Lantern Zero software is open source under the MIT or Apache-2.0 license, at your option (source code). These terms cover only our hosted service.
12. Disclaimers and limits on liability
The service is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We're not liable for missed or late wake-ups or alerts, or for losses from relying on them. Our total liability to you is limited to the fees you paid in the 12 months before the claim.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington. Disputes go to the state and federal courts in King County, Washington.
14. Changes to these terms
We'll post changes on this page at least 30 days before they take effect. If you keep using the service after that, you accept the new terms. If you don't, you can delete your account.
15. Wallet companies
Wallet companies that buy accounts for their users sign a separate agreement covering price, service levels and how we handle their users' data.
